PLAYABLE VARISPEED BUFFER GLITCHER · VST3 EFFECT, MIDI-PLAYABLE
Atomizer
The key is the rate.
A playable varispeed buffer glitcher: audio passes through untouched until you hold a key, and the key decides how the last slice of audio plays back — one continuous varispeed ramp across the whole keyboard, not a table of divisions. C4 loops the captured window at pitch, C5 crushes it into half the time an octave up, C3 stretches it into two bars down an octave, and every semitone in between is a real 5.946% step. Hold a drone with your thumb, stab rhythms above it, and let go back into whatever's still held.
- One continuous varispeed law across the whole keyboard — rate = 2^((note−root)/12), so pitch and playback speed move together like real tape, not a stepped table of divisions
- WINDOW sets what the root key loops (2 bars down to a half beat); BLACK KEYS switch the treatment to REVERSE, RATE ONLY, or a deterministic 8-slot SCRAMBLE
- CAPTURE = HOLD freezes one bar the instant a gesture starts, so a whole line transposes a single frozen slice; RETRIG grabs fresh audio on every key
- Last-note priority with a held drone — a new key takes over, releasing it falls back to whatever's still down, not to dry
- Zero latency, bit-exact dry signal with nothing held — verified bitwise, not just measured close
- GATE, DECAY, TONE, and SEAM shape every repeat; HOLD latches the last key as a sustain pedal
- Full MIDI CC learn on every knob and selector, including HOLD — right-click and go
