A 16 x 16 pin matrix with six oscillators behind it. Rows are sources, columns are destinations, and dropping a pin wires one to the other through its own attenuverter — an empty matrix is silent, because nothing has been routed anywhere yet. Patch the filter's own output back into its own cutoff, the stereo bus into an oscillator, an audio-rate oscillator into the LFO's rate — everything is fair game, including the combinations that make no sense until they do. Press EZ until something good happens, SNAP it into one of sixteen sequencer steps, and go find another one. Sixteen of those in a row is the instrument.
- A 256-point patch matrix, sources down the left and destinations across the top — every pin is an attenuverter (red positive, blue inverted), and the pointer on the pin head reads the amount without clicking anything
- Six oscillators, all starting at C2 — three carry a pullable KEY pin at 1.000 (true 1V/oct tracking), three sit free until you give them a reason to move; whether a patch is linear through-zero FM or exponential FM-in-octaves is decided entirely by what you plugged into it
- HAND OF GOD: ctrl-click any pin and a hidden oscillator, derived from that pin's own position on the board, wobbles it forever — GLOW RATE, GLOW DEPTH and GLOW SPREAD control the whole swarm, measured under 9% of a core with all 256 pins glowing at once
- Sixteen-step snapshot sequencer where every step holds an entire patch — all 256 pins, their amounts, glow state, and the six oscillator tunings — with SLEW morphing 0 to 1000ms between steps and host sync, MIDI clock, or free-run TEMPO
- EZ picks from a table of frequency ratios rather than semitones, because equal temperament isn't a simple ratio and a tempered interval beats against itself instead of ringing like a real FM tone
- STEP TRIG gates the envelopes off the sequencer at 85% of the step, so a snapshot rack and an amp envelope can coexist — and SKIP removes a step's turn without silencing whatever is already sustaining through it
- No preset bank, on purpose — INIT is the only factory patch this instrument will ever ship with. You're meant to learn the grid by building on it, not load somebody else's finished sound
