SYNTHESIZED TAPE INSTRUMENT
NEUTRON
A Mellotron for the future.
A Mellotron whose tapes were never actually recorded. STRINGS, CHOIR, FLUTE, and HORN, playable at any pitch and held for as long as you like — no eight-second tape strip running out underneath you — built deliberately unstable and low fidelity, the way the original always was, and it still plays your own samples if you want it to.
- Four synthesized tape voices — STRINGS, CHOIR, FLUTE, HORN — generated, not sampled, so they hold indefinitely at any pitch
- BARK, FIDELITY, and ANALOG knobs push the voices toward the same wobble and grit the original tapes had, without a physical strip wearing out
- Full drive and post-drive stage with its own filter, so the instrument can be pushed into distortion the way a hot tape preamp would
- A/B slot system with independent tracking and speed controls per slot, plus vibrato and loop switches per voice
- Reverb, attack, and release built in, all with per-parameter modulation amount and rate
- Still accepts your own sample material if you want NEUTRON's tape-wobble engine applied to something other than its stock voices
